Magical Sunday with Spanish finale

I felt like a little girl again waiting in the queue to go up the Giant Sky Wheel at the banks of the Yarra River in Melbourne city last Sunday. It was cold and from the top the ground looked bare and whitish like snow. It was a fun experience and I found myself smiling a lot, channeling the child within.

After the ride we walked around the city taking photos of unusual buildings. We crossed Fitroy Gardens and ended up having dinner at De Los Santos restaurant on Brunswick Street with live flamenco music. We had spicy chicken and chorizo empanadas, sauteed mushrooms to die for all washed down by a glass of sangria. YUMMY!

We had paella marinara as a main dish. Wow! It was fresh and delicious and it tasted better with the sounds of the Spanish guitars in the background and the despaired voices of the singers who moaned their sorrows in the strings and sounds of the cajon. What a nice Sunday! I felt happy, rested and ready to start another week of teaching rounds. It is so relaxing not thinking about studying. In a couple of weeks we will be returning to De Los Santos with Anton, who yesterday decided not to come with us and go long-boarding with his cousins. His loss!

Lemon Pie

Finally had some time for cooking this weekend, since my assignments for the semester are over. It was so relaxing to stay in bed for a bit longer in the morning not worrying about how to break the day down into studying sections and fun sections. I am de-stressing slowly... Lemon Pie was a delight last night. Will post recipe later. Now I'm going to the city for a walk, photo shooting and a drink. I love weekends again.

Rust is all that remains

Rusty scenes are all that remains of the fabulous Autumn that we had this year in Melbourne. As the road unfolded in front of the car all I could see was a never-ending sea of grey branches arching inwards. The few remaining leaves on the trees are stubbornly holding on, just like me trying to stay on this wonderful Season a few days longer.

I struggled to finish my uni assignments today for the semester just in time to start my next block of teaching rounds. I have to say this suffocating feeling of brain depletion is starting to weigh on me. I think I am going to need a holiday way before they are due.

Mother's Day Swap: Sorrento for Port Melbourne

Lucky we have some sense and swapped our outing for Mother's Day at the last minute! With shitty weather like today, we almost regretted going to Port Melbourne. Sorry Sorrento we'll visit another day.

My son, as usual, made a beautiful breakfast with table decorations and lovely gifts and my cats also wanted some cuddles in the morning, after all I am their mummy too.

The bay was freezing and so windy, it was almost painful to walk from the car to the arty cafe called (and I should have trade marked the name 2 years ago when I used it for my photo exhibition) i-frame. Some nice images to look around whilst we ate a foccacia, latte and ice chocolate.

Tonight Anton is cooking me a risotto! What a nice hiatus it was from the studies. I have two more assignments to write in 2 weeks, almost impossible, but I have to push through. Focusing on the end is what keeps me going.
